The total time a process spends in the ready queue waiting for the CPU, not counting the time it spends running.
A variable or expression chosen by the programmer whose current value the debugger displays and updates each time the paused program advances.
A login process that an attacker can pass without being the genuine user, because the evidence it asks for is easy to guess, steal or bypass.
A server that stores or generates web pages and other web content and sends them to clients in response to HTTP or HTTPS requests.
A number attached to a connection in a neural network, by which the input on that connection is multiplied, so that it controls how strongly that input affects the neuron's output.
The total of each input multiplied by its weight, plus the bias, calculated by a neuron before its activation function is applied.
The clause of an SQL statement that filters rows, keeping only those for which its condition is true.
A list of items, such as IP addresses, ports, applications or devices, that are explicitly permitted, with everything not on the list blocked by default.
The family of standards (IEEE 802.11) for wireless local area networks, in which devices exchange data with a wireless access point by radio.
A family of security standards (WPA2, WPA3) that authenticate devices joining a wireless network and encrypt the traffic between the devices and the access point.
A network that connects devices and smaller networks across a large geographic area, spanning cities, countries or continents, usually over transmission links owned by telecommunications companies.
A NoSQL database that stores data in rows identified by a row key, in which each row can have a different and very large set of named columns, grouped into column families.
A character in a LIKE pattern that stands for other characters; % matches any sequence of zero or more characters.
A simple drawing of the layout of a screen or page, showing where controls, data and navigation are placed, without final colours, images or styling.
A network device that sends and receives Wi-Fi radio signals, connecting wireless devices to a wired LAN.
Sending data through the air as electromagnetic waves, usually radio or microwaves, between antennas, without a physical cable.
The number of bits a CPU processes or moves as one unit, which is usually the size of its registers and the width of its data bus.
A system of linked documents and other resources, identified by URLs and transferred over the internet using HTTP or HTTPS.
Standalone malware that copies itself across a network by exploiting vulnerabilities, without needing to attach to a file or be opened by a user.
The input of a given size for which an algorithm performs the most steps, and the complexity on that input.
A feature selection strategy that searches through subsets of features by training and evaluating a model on each subset, and keeps the subset that gives the best performance.
The final stage of a pipelined instruction, in which the result produced by the execute stage is written into its destination register (or memory), where later instructions can use it.
