Terms of Service

Welcome to Augment Education. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the websites, applications, products, and services operated by AUGMENT EDUCATION ("Augment Education," "Augment," "we," "us," or "our"), including our learning platform, question banks, flashcards, workbooks, practice sets, ranked practice, AI feedback, and related services (collectively, the "Services").

By creating an account, accessing, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1. About Augment Education

Augment Education provides online tools to help International Baccalaureate students revise, practise, organize study materials, and receive learning support. The Services may include:

  • subject and topic-based question banks;
  • AI-assisted marking, explanations, and practice question generation;
  • flashcards, workbooks, notes, uploads, and study sets;
  • ranked or gamified practice modes;
  • progress tracking, missions, and learning analytics; and
  • community, support, newsletter, waitlist, and related features.

Augment is an independent education platform. Augment is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or approved by the International Baccalaureate Organization. "International Baccalaureate," "IB," and related terms are used only to describe the curriculum and exam context that students may be studying.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or use the Services. If you are under 18, you should use the Services only with the involvement of a parent, guardian, school, or other responsible adult where required by law or school policy.

When you create an account, you agree to:

  • provide accurate and current information;
  • keep your login credentials secure;
  • use only accounts that you are authorized to use;
  • notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised; and
  • be responsible for activity that occurs under your account.

We may reject, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, create risk for the Services, or are used in an unlawful, abusive, or harmful way.

3. Educational Use and AI Output

The Services are intended to support learning and revision. They are not a substitute for your school, teacher, official curriculum materials, official markschemes, or professional academic advice.

AI-generated content, automated marking, explanations, suggested answers, predicted scores, generated questions, and feedback may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or unsuitable for your specific exam context. You are responsible for checking important information, using your judgment, and following your school's academic integrity rules.

We do not guarantee that:

  • AI marking will match an official examiner's mark;
  • generated questions will reflect actual exam questions;
  • explanations or answers will be error-free;
  • using the Services will improve your grades or exam results; or
  • any content in the Services is complete, current, or officially endorsed.

4. User Content

"User Content" means content you submit, upload, create, generate, store, share, or otherwise make available through the Services, including answers, notes, workbook entries, flashcards, generated sets, prompts, uploaded media, support messages, and feedback.

You retain ownership of your User Content. By using the Services, you grant Augment a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, display, process, transmit, modify, and create technical derivatives of your User Content as needed to:

  • provide, maintain, and improve the Services;
  • generate requested AI outputs and learning materials;
  • sync, back up, and restore your content;
  • provide support and troubleshoot issues;
  • maintain safety, security, and abuse prevention; and
  • comply with law and enforce these Terms.

You represent that you have the rights needed to submit and use your User Content in the Services. Do not upload or share content that violates copyright, privacy, confidentiality, exam rules, school policies, academic integrity rules, or any applicable law.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • use the Services for unlawful, harmful, abusive, deceptive, or fraudulent purposes;
  • upload, submit, or share content that is illegal, infringing, harassing, hateful, threatening, sexually exploitative, or otherwise harmful;
  • submit personal information about another person without appropriate authorization;
  • copy, scrape, harvest, bulk download, or redistribute content from the Services without our written permission;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Services except as expressly authorized by us;
  • bypass access controls, rate limits, credits, payment controls, or security features;
  • interfere with the operation, integrity, or security of the Services;
  • resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit access to the Services without our written permission;
  • impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or organization; or
  • use the Services in a way that violates academic integrity rules, exam rules, or school policies.

6. Our Content and Intellectual Property

The Services, including software, interfaces, design, text, graphics, logos, icons, product names, features, and other materials provided by Augment, are owned by Augment or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property and other laws.

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Services for your own learning and revision.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, or create derivative works based on the Services except as allowed by these Terms or with our written permission.

If you send us feedback, ideas, or suggestions, you grant us permission to use them without restriction or compensation to you.

7. Paid Features and Billing

Some Services are currently free or in development, and paid plans or paid features may be introduced later.

If we introduce paid plans, subscription features, credits, one-time purchases, trials, or other paid offerings, the applicable price, billing cycle, renewal terms, cancellation process, and any additional payment terms will be presented to you before purchase. Payments may be processed by third-party payment processors, and your use of their payment services may be subject to their own terms and privacy notices.

Unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase or required by law, fees for paid features may be non-refundable, and cancellations may take effect at the end of the current billing period.

8. Third-Party Services and Links

The Services may include links to, integrations with, or content from third-party services, such as authentication providers, payment processors if paid features are introduced, community platforms, AI infrastructure, storage providers, and educational resources.

We are not responsible for third-party services, content, terms, privacy practices, availability, or security. Your use of third-party services is governed by the terms and policies of those third parties.

9. Service Changes and Availability

We may modify, suspend, discontinue, limit, or remove any part of the Services at any time, including features, content, pricing, credits, limits, and availability. We may also perform maintenance or updates that affect access to the Services.

We aim to provide useful and reliable Services, but we do not guarantee that the Services will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

10. Account Suspension and Termination

You may stop using the Services at any time. Where available, you may delete your account through account settings or by contacting us.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services if:

  • you breach these Terms;
  • your use creates security, legal, operational, or reputational risk;
  • you engage in fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful activity;
  • we are required to do so by law; or
  • we discontinue the Services or a material part of them.

After termination, your right to access the Services ends immediately. We may delete or retain information in accordance with our Privacy Policy, legal obligations, security needs, backup processes, and legitimate business purposes.

11. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information. By using the Services, you acknowledge that we process personal information as described in the Privacy Policy.

12. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise.

We disclaim all warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, reliability, and educational outcome.

Without limiting the above, we do not warrant that the Services, AI outputs, marking, explanations, practice questions, rankings, study recommendations, or other content will be accurate, complete, current, secure, uninterrupted, or error-free.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Augment and its officers, employees, contractors, agents, suppliers, and licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, data, content, use, business, opportunity, grades, exam results, or other intangible losses.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Augment's total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Services or these Terms will be limited to the greater of:

  • the amount you paid to Augment for the Services in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim; or
  • SGD 100.

These limitations apply whether the claim is based on contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, statute, or any other legal theory, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

14. Indemnification

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Augment and its officers, employees, contractors, agents, suppliers, and licensors from and against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or relating to:

  • your use of the Services;
  • your User Content;
  • your breach of these Terms;
  • your violation of applicable law or third-party rights; or
  • your misuse of AI outputs, study materials, or shared content.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

If we make material changes, we will provide notice as required by law, such as by posting a notice through the Services or contacting you through the email associated with your account. Your continued use of the Services after the updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

16. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to conflict of law rules.

Before starting formal proceedings, you agree to contact us first and try to resolve any dispute informally. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, the courts of Singapore will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

18. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any additional terms presented for specific features, form the entire agreement between you and Augment regarding the Services and replace any prior agreements about the Services.
