How six subjects make a Diploma
You take six subjects: one from each of groups 1 to 5, and a sixth from group 6 or a second course from groups 1 to 4. Three or four of them are at Higher Level (HL), the rest at Standard Level (SL).
A few rules narrow the choice. You take one math course, not both. You take one course per language, so English A and English B don’t go together. Environmental systems and societies, and literature and performance, each count towards two groups.
Around the six subjects sit the core: theory of knowledge (TOK), the extended essay (EE) and creativity, activity, service (CAS).
The subject checker tells you, rule by rule, whether your six fit together.
