A short guide for parents
You may never open Augment yourself. This page covers what it is, what it costs and what it does with a student’s data, so you don’t have to.
What it is, in three sentences
Augment is revision for the IB Diploma, organized around the syllabus of each subject your child takes. Students practice exam-style questions and check their answers against the markscheme, read notes for each topic, and review flashcards on a schedule that spaces them out over weeks. It keeps a record of which topics are holding up and which need another look.
What it costs
Nothing today. No card is ever taken at sign-up, so there is nothing to cancel. If paid plans come, the Terms promise we’ll say what costs money, how much and how to cancel before anyone pays anything.
Safety and privacy, plainly
Each line below matches what the Privacy Policy says, which is the document that counts.
- No ads, and no selling dataThere are no adverts, no advertising trackers and no third-party analytics. Student data is never sold.
- An age check, without a birthdayEvery student gives their age in years, never a date of birth, and confirms it’s true. Students aged 13 to 17 also confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed to them using Augment.
- Under 13, no accountAugment isn’t for children under 13. If the answer is under 13, no account is made, nothing typed in is kept, and that browser can’t try again with a different age for 30 days.
- Nothing publicThere are no public profiles. Nothing a student does is shown to other students unless they share a worksheet by link themselves. Augment doesn’t ask for a student’s school or collect their location.
- Their data, to take or deleteFrom Settings, a student can download one file with every record held about them, or delete their account, which removes it straight away.
How you can help
Most of revision is theirs to do, and you don’t need to know the subject to help.
Short and often works better than long and rare. Twenty minutes of questions on one topic, then the same topic again a few days later, does more than an afternoon of rereading. If you want to ask about revision, ask which topic they’re on rather than how long they studied. Some weeks will go badly. That’s normal, and the next week is still there.
Asking the school
Augment has no school plan and no teacher accounts, so there is nothing for a school to buy. If a teacher wants a look, the notes, glossaries and data booklets are free to read without an account, and our page for teachers sets out what they can use with a class.
