A timer for one thing at a time

Focus for 25 minutes, then stop for 5. After every fourth block, take 15. It runs in this browser, across tabs and reloads.

Why short blocks work. A lot of revision time goes on deciding what to do next and checking your phone. A block with an end makes starting easier: you only have to keep going until the timer rings. Pick one topic before you press Start, put the phone in another room, and let the break be a real break.

Use the blocks for doing, not rereading. Answer questions, test yourself with cards, write out a definition from memory. The IB guide’s chapter Revision that works explains why.

Press Space to start or pause while the timer is focused. The pop-out button floats a small copy over the page, and the countdown shows in the tab title while a block runs.

What it doesn’t do

  • It doesn’t sync between devices. Your phone and your laptop each keep their own timer.
  • It doesn’t send anything to us. Its settings and your focus time stay in this browser.
  • It doesn’t block websites or apps. That part is up to you.

Questions

Know what to do with each block

Augment shows which topics are slipping, so the next 25 minutes go on the right one.
