A twelve-week IB Maths revision plan

Cover the whole syllabus twice before May: six weeks topic by topic, then six weeks of full timed papers.

Handwritten maths notes on grid paper

IB Mathematics rewards steady practice more than any other subject. Here is a twelve-week plan that covers the syllabus twice before the exams.

Weeks 1–6: topic by topic

Work through the five topics in order, finishing each week with a mixed set of past-paper questions on that topic.

Week

Topic

1

Number and algebra

2–3

Functions

4

Geometry and trigonometry

5

Statistics and probability

6

Calculus

Weeks 7–12: full papers

Switch to full timed papers, alternating Paper 1 and Paper 2. Mark them strictly with the markscheme and log every lost mark by topic.

Target=marks lost to careless errorstotal marks lost→0\text{Target} = \frac{\text{marks lost to careless errors}}{\text{total marks lost}} \to 0Target=total marks lostmarks lost to careless errors→0

Common mistake

Don’t skip Paper 1 practice because it feels slower. Non-calculator fluency is what buys you time in Paper 2.
